Git R Done!
That's right...we saw the man live last night - Larry the Cable Guy! I wasn't sure what to expect because I've never seen a show of his, but he is hilarious! We had a great time! Kendall (my brother) hooked us up with free tickets and meet & greet passes.

The Schick Maples
They are finally here and planted!! Our two new maple trees! If you've been following my blog from the beginning, you may remember that I posted a question on what your favorite tree is. Maple was most favorite, so we bought two! (Japanese Lilac was also suggested, however those sell out quickly in the spring and no one had any for sale this fall...) Here are pictures of the trees - aren't they just so beautiful?! ;-)

Cabo San Lucas!
Hola mi amigos & amigas! We have returned safely from Cabo San Lucas! The weather turned out to be incredible. The hurricane weakened, and hit about 130 miles north of Cabo. Our flight into Cabo was right on time - no delays. They only experienced rain on Saturday (but not on the beach, just inland), and some wind.
It was a great trip! We were there with a group of 4 other couples. We did a lot of laying by the pool, sipping frozen drinks. The beaches in Cabo aren't really conducive to swimming due to the rip tide, so there was not a lot of action on the actual beach. Plus, there are peddlers and stray dogs, so not the most relaxing atmosphere. :) But at our resort, the pool overlooked the beach and ocean, so it was just absolutely beautiful.
We did make it to Cabo Wabo, Sammy Hagar's bar/restaurant...just not on one of the days he was there. Apparently you have to wait in line all night to get tickets for the days that he's there, and we just weren't up for forfeiting our pool time to wait in line. Also, the drummer from Pantera (Vinnie Paul) was staying at our resort. We saw him one night, before any of us really knew he was there and who he actually was. Then we hung out with his crew one day at the pool, but Vinnie wasn't out there. Vinnie is good friends with Sammy Hagar, and he may have even been drumming for Sammy at Cabo Wabo on Sammy's b-day (Monday).
My new favorite mariachi band song is Juan Tanamera, or what we refer to is 'One Ton Tomato'. If you're ever in the presence of a mariachi band that is taking requests, be sure to request it!

What will happen??
It looks like Hurricane Norbert may ruin our vaca plans. :-( We've been watching this stupid hurricane all week, and it hasn't miraculously changed directions yet. It has weakened though, and that's a good sign. It just needs to weaken a bit more!
Put in some prayers for us that the storm won't affect Cabo San Lucas and we can still have a great vacation!

Silly dogs...
As I'm trying to wrap up some sewing projects before we leave for MEXICO (Yes, that's right...in one week, I'll be basking in the sun on the beaches of Cabo San Lucas!), the dogs wait by (and on) the stairs for me. Here are some funny pictures from tonight. The first one is Jada laying on the stairs - she likes to make sure she won't miss it if I come down the steps. And the second one is Sadie taking a nap while guarding the bone from Jada.
Sorry, bad picture...it's hard to see the bone under Sadie's chin. It's the white blur by her face. :)
As I mentioned before, we're headed to Mexico in less than a week! We leave Chicago on Saturday morning, and should be on the beaches with a tropical drink in hand by early afternoon! No promises for blogging while we're there, but I'll be taking a lot of pictures! Stay tuned!
